How to send a correction, report a problem, or ask for something to be taken down.

There is one person behind this site, so a message here is read by the person who can fix the thing.
This is the most useful message you can send, and it has its own route. Every country, division and capital page has a "suggest a correction" link at the foot of it, and the form is attached to the page you were looking at, so the place, its path and the value currently shown all come through with your message.
Please include a source. A correction with a source is checked in minutes and applied as an override that survives the next pipeline run. A correction without one has to be researched from scratch, and it waits behind the ones that do not.
Corrections worth sending: a capital that has moved, a capital that was never right, a name with the diacritics stripped out, a division in the wrong parent, a missing seat, a population that is out by an order of magnitude.
A division page with no capital shows a "suggest the seat" form. Use that rather than this page: it records the place, the name you suggest and your source together, and it lands in the moderation queue as a suggestion rather than as prose someone has to interpret.
A page that will not load, a map that draws nothing, a link that goes nowhere, a page that looks wrong on your phone. Say which page and which browser, and a screenshot helps more than a description.
The takedown notice sets out what to send and what happens next. Follow it rather than this section: a complaint with the details it asks for is resolved in days, and one without them turns into a correspondence.
Requests about your own data, including access, correction and erasure, are covered by the privacy notice. Three of them you can do yourself from your account page without waiting for a reply.
The dataset will be published as a nightly download under CC BY 4.0. Until it is, ask, and you will usually be sent a copy. A commercial licence without the share-alike condition on contributed content is also available; say what you are building and it will be answered.
